Get the Look! A Vibrant and Welcoming Entry

The entry is by far one of the most important parts of your home. It's a first impression and the last thing that your guests will see when they leave. Unfortunately, the entry is one space that is often forgotten when designing a home.

While currently searching for some entry ideas for a client, I decided to build a fun and vibrant entryway that you can replicate in your home, based off this adorable pink entry inspiration photo!

I love the idea of hanging a mirror in an entryway so that you and your guests can have it to check their lipstick, put on coats or check hair when leaving or entering your house. Lamps create warmth to the space and either a beautiful rug or piece of upholstery (or both!) help to make the room cozy. A fabulous chandelier is a perfect way to give a little drama to the space but also, a traditional lantern is another option (which I adore!)

Treat the entryway like another room in the house. Layer it, love it, and make it your own! Below are some of my favorite suggestions to create this look, which can be modified to fit your style! Be sure to click on the photo to get more details.

Enjoy!

2018: Setting Intentions vs. Resolutions

There is something exciting about starting a new year. It's a feeling of new...a blank slate to take a look at the year passed and figure out the things that worked out well, and the things that maybe didn't work so well. Many people start thinking about this in December, especially during the stress of the Holidays. It's a time of joy and family, but also a time when our weaknesses (putting off work outs, being stressed, not managing money etc.) seem to be magnified.

This is where the ever-so-popular "New Year's Resolution" steps in. For many years, I have told myself "I resolve to work out more this year" or "I resolve to keep the house cleaner" and the list goes on.

This year, however, I decided to do away with resolutions all together. I. AM. DONE! For many years, I have seemed to come up short and have had a sense of failure by at least March. I am not alone on this either. A recent study showed that only around 8% of all people actually keep their New Years Resolutions.

I don't know about you, but it seems like all we are doing is setting ourselves up for failure instead of working on ways to build ourselves and others up. In this crazy world of ours, sometimes we need to give ourselves a break and work on trying to diminish the pressure we put on ourselves on a day to day basis.

%22Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that's the one that's going to help you grow%22.jpg

This is why this year, I am choosing to set an intention instead. I picked one word that I truly think will help me grow in all areas of life. When faced with any issue or goal, this word will be front and center. My intention or word of 2018 is Ownership

While this word can have so many meanings, to me, ownership means taking the things I am passionate about (this blog being one of them) and truly being present...owning it with all my being, and leading with all my heart. That is what the word ownership means to me. Here are a few other great words you can choose to set for an intention for the next year:

  • Present
  • Loving
  • Healthy
  • Fearless
  • Creative
  • Focused
  • Carefree
  • Light
  • Passionate
  • Adventurous
  • Awake
  • Vibrant
  • Abundant
  • Transformed
  • Peaceful
  • Happy

I urge you all to set your own intention for 2018 and live it with all you are. It's going to be a great year and I look forward to truly owning this blog...posting more and posting from the heart! I would love to hear what your intention for this next year will be! Leave in a comment below! Cheers to a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
